Student athlete from American universities, colleges and military academies play American College Football. Because of college sports among addressees in the United States it laid the foundation of making American football a popular event in United States.

NCAA was (National Collegiate Athletic Association) was set up when Walter Camp popularly remarked as the Father of American Football made various changes in rugby and made it into a unique sport. He published no of articles in the publication to make the game popular. With the changes made college football increased in popularity in the end of 19th century it also became violent too.

The season of college football presently begins at Labor Day weekend, which is one week earlier than the NFL. National Championship has been determined by the Bowl Championship Series since 1998, the postseason consists of a series of bowl games that features the top 64 college teams. A series of all star bowl games are played in January following the season in which nations best seniors are selected to participate
