Travelling by trains in South Africa can be safe and a wonderful experience as it is well connected with the different cities of SA . There are different types of trains and railway system running, they are The Blue Train - The Blue train is a luxury train and it runs between Pretoria to Cape town , twice a week .Meals and drinks are included in the fare.

Shosholoza Meyl -- Shosholoza Meyl are the long distance passengers trains and are remarked as best hidden travel secrets and are cheap too .

The Premier class trains-This train is also in the top list among travellers as it is affordable .It runs between Johannesburg to cape town twice a week .

Metro suburban trains -this can be a good way to travel from Cape town to the sea side of Simonstown (but this rain service is not recommended by travellers)

Cruise trains - Cruise trains runs on a regular schedule from Cape Town to Pretoria and on to Victoria Falls a famous destination for each tourist. Railways passes are expected to be released during world cup.

Durban is well connected with rail services , as train travels six times to and from Johannesburg . a first class only service runs between Durban and Johannesburg on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Polokwane is well connected via railway as there are regular trains from Pretoria, Johannesburg and Musina .

Nelspruit is also well connected with trains ,in west to Johannesburg, Witbank and Pretoria, and east to Komatipoort .

Johannesburg is also well connected with railway as there are eight daily trains that runs criss cross the country .

Bloemfrontein is well connected as it is the major rail junctions.

Port Elizabeth there are intercity trains running from Johannesburg and bloemfountein.
