The emails are using names of branded companies like Coca Cola, MTN, Nokia, Microsoft and few more similar companies to be sponsoring the lottery. FIFA would be controlling the ticketing system. Approximately 30 lakhs tickets would be available in total for the 64 matches scheduled in South Africa. One-third of these tickets will be exclusively reserved for the FIFA family, teams and the sponsors. Other third part of tickets will be available for the visitors coming from outside. 10lakh tickets will be sold out to the residents of Africa. It has been estimated that about 89 million people are residents of Africa and difficult to sell out the 1 million tickets to all of them. FIFA has suggested lottery system so that whoever is lucky will get a ticket. The tickets would be priced quite affordable for the residents of the host-nation. The sale of tickets will begin this year and plenty of notices will be available on the internet giving all the information related to the purchase of tickets. One should be careful while booking the tickets by using only the authorized websites and beware from the bogus websites offering the services.
The FIFA World Cup in 2010 is the 19th World Cup scheduled to be held in South Africa from 11th June till 11th July. On 25th November’07 in Durban the preliminary draw was done. In Cape Town on 4th December’09, at the International Convention Centre the final draw for this cup is being staged. Irvin Khoza, the Chairman – Local Organising Committee says that the residents of the host-nation needs to be more excited for this big event. There should be more enthusiasm in the South Africans for this event as it is for the first time this FIFA tournament is being hosted by a Confederation of African Football nation leaving apart the Oceania Football Confederation. Irvin Khoza expects that the 45 million residents of South Africa to embrace the World Cup.
The cheapest ticket that is being made available for a South African will be costing Rs.140/- . FIFA has kicked off on 20th Feb’09 the process of ticket sales as a part of their first phase of sales. This will last on 31st March’09. The tickets for this biggest event can be requested through FIFA.com as well. The residents of South Africa can also register their tickets via application forms available at branches of FNB National Banks in South Africa. This sales phase is not based on first come first serve basis and instead to give a fair chance to all the fans a draw is being conducted on 15th April’09 randomly to declare the applicants about their tickets.
